Full Fields for Claiming Crown Saturday

August 1, 2007 -- Henderson, KY -- Ellis Park will host full, competitive fields on Saturday for the 2007 Old National Bank Claiming Crown. Highlighted by the $150,000 Old National Bank Crown Jewel, at a mile and one-eighth on the main track, the seven-race Claiming Crown card will average 10 plus horses per race. The Pepsi Emerald, a mile and one-sixteenth turf race, boasts the biggest field with 14 runners.

Kentucky-based horses dominate the race card, and the strongest favorite is Golden Hare in the Sysco Express. Trained by national leader Steve Asmussen, Golden Hare has won 12 of his last 13 starts.

Out of state shippers include track stars such as: Lookingforthesecret from Minnesota, Semi Lost and Zappa from California, General Charley from Illinois, Ricardo A from New York, and Top of the Heap from Iowa.

The Old National Bank Claiming Crown will include seven races on the 12-race card at Ellis Park this Saturday. Most races on the full card include at least 10 horses in each field. The first post of the day is 12:40 p.m. (CST), and the first Claiming Crown race (the Unbridled Spirit Iron Horse) will be race 4 at 2:04 p.m. (CST).

The races will be televised on both HRTV and TVG.
