![]() Ellis Park and the Claiming Crown Land Title Sponsor June 12, 2007 -- Henderson, KY -- Ellis Park Race Course announced a new partnership whereby local sponsor Old National Bank will become the title sponsor for the ninth renewal of the Old National Bank Claiming Crown. Bob Jones, President/CEO of Old National Bank, and Ron Geary, Owner/President of Ellis Park, signed paperwork Wednesday, June 6th, sealing the deal. “We look for commitment to the Tri-state area, and we found it in Ellis Park,” said Jones. The title sponsorship renames this year’s Claiming Crown to the Old National Bank Claiming Crown. The sponsorship only affects this year’s races as the Claiming Crown returns to Canterbury Park in Minnesota in 2008. Old National Bank will also present the trophy for the $150,000 Claiming Crown Jewel. The Claiming Crown offers $600,000 in purses for seven races for horses who started at least once in the past year for a claiming tag ranging from $7,500 (or less) to $35,000 (or less). June 15 is the deadline for late nominations to be made at a cost of $500. “We are so excited to host the ninth annual Claiming Crown, and thrilled to have Old National Bank as a sponsor at this level,” commented Geary. The Old National Bank Claiming Crown will be run at Ellis Park on August 4. Ellis Park, located in Henderson, Kentucky, offers Thoroughbred racing and whole card simulcasting.
